Painting a Day 154

Today my parents celebrate 40 years of marriage!  That's a milestone for sure these days.  So here's offering a prayer for them for many years to come, and that marriages everywhere may be strengthened by examples like these through the grace of God.

Painting a Day 149

Today we are looking out our front door at a "Sold" sign!  Oh life is moving at the speed of ... something really fast right now.  So we are starting to pack cause we are moving in slightly less than 6 weeks!  AAAHHHH!!!!!

So today's painting is just one of those things when I sit down with a few colours and try to put some form to what's going on in my head.  It's a little crazy in there right now.

On a cute note, our three year old just came out with this when we were talking, in passing, about gypsies,
"I know what gypsies are."

Eleven year old: "Really, what are they?"

Three year old:  "Well, they're made out of water ... and they're kind of like frogs."  Said with all the certainty a three year old can display in their own knowledge!  They keep me smiling, that's for sure.

Painting a Day 146

Today we are celebrating Bernadetted's first birthday with family and friends.  I must say that having the house on the market, thesis the easiest party cleaning we've ever done!  A simple whiz round with the vacuum is really all that's needed before the place is guest-ready!

Painting a Day 145

So today's painting doesn't scan very well, but I'm posting it for the sake of continuity.  My kids who recently watched Superman, the movie on Netflix have decided that it's Superman's fortress.  I simply call it:

Painting a Day 141

Today is our youngest's first birthday!  It's amazing how fast a year can go by, and it only seems to be going faster as we go.  It's also providentially her feast day.  We had already named her Bernadette when we discovered that the feast of St. Bernadette was on April 16, which completely floored us and once again pointed out to us that God has a plan for all our lives.

Painting a Day 139

So we are in the full swing of house showing now, hence the late posting of yesterday's painting and the rushed posting of one here.  Two more are booked for tomorrow and we've got an agents open house on Tuesday, somewhere in the midst of it all I think we're supposed to try to maintain a life.  The mind boggles!

Painting a Day 137

Today the sign goes up on the lawn!  I haven't been writing much with my posts lately because I've been a little bit swamped getting the house ready to put on the market.  I've been posting in snatches of time in between moving furniture, reorganizing, packing up non-essential books, etc and general cleaning.  It's amazing how much clutter can accumulate in house with seven children!  So today the sign goes up and we officially have our first showing booked for tomorrow evening.  Here comes a whirlwind of activity and life happening and stuff going crazy.

Painting a Day 126

Busy weekends are a hallmark of our family.  Hence the late posting of yesterday's and today's paintings.  Yesterday's was inspired by watching "Babies", the documentary.  It was a very cute film.  Lots of insights into cultures other than our own and their child rearing practices.  My only critiques, comes from not quite knowing the intention of the film-maker.  It appears that they are trying to give a representative picture of babyhood around the world.  And yet the bias of the western film-maker comes through.  Out of four babies they featured, only two had siblings and them only one each.  And in none of the families was there any portrayal of a faith life.  The closest they came to that was the family from San Francisco and their singing about the "earth-mother", hardly representative of American culture.

Today's painting was simple inspired by the hope of coming spring.
